You have questions. We have answers!
Q: Should you shampoo before you have your hair colored?
A: Yes and No - You may have heard hair color takes better on dirty hair, but that's not true. Color applied to clean hair produces the best outcome. However, stimulating your scalp by shampooing before a color treatment may cause scalp irritation. For optimum results, shampoo your hair 12 to 24 hours prior to having a color service.
Q: What are the best types of hair extensions?
A: The best extensions are the ones that serve your purpose. Determine the reason for wanting extensions. Is your desire to add length, volume or to enhance your hair color? You should also consider your level of commitment. If you are looking to occasionally change your hair style, clip-ins are the way to go. Micro-links or I-tips are great for adding fun color to medium density hair. Tape-in wefts are the best for adding length and volume. These are by far the easiest on the hair and the wallet. Whichever you choose, be sure to get human hair and NOT synthetic. This will allow you to style your extensions along with your own hair to create a natural seamless transition.
Q: What is the best way to remove stain from your skin after hair coloring?
A: To remove hair color from your skin, try hand sanitizer. Dab a few drops on a cloth and press onto the stained area for a few seconds. Be sure not to scrub or rub excessively as it may result in skin irritation. If the stain remains, not to worry! Within a few hours your skin will produce natural oils which will allow the color to be removed easily. To avoid stains around the hairline, ask your stylist to use a barrier before applying your color.
Q: Why is my hair dry when I condition after every shampoo?
A: The biggest mistake people make is in choosing the correct conditioner. If your hair is dry you want to avoid protein-based conditioners. Protein is used to strengthen, often leaving hair starved for moisture.
Ask your stylist to recommend a moisturizing deep conditioner that you can use at home weekly (if possible). Directions: After shampooing, wring excess moisture from hair and apply the deep conditioner, cover with a plastic cap and leave on for 30 min. or longer.

Q: How can I stop my hair from turning brassy after coloring?
A: If the reason you color your hair is to hide those pesky grays, the answer to fighting brass can be as simple as having your stylist change your formula to a demi-permanent hair color. The demi color can’t lift you lighter than your natural color which means it won’t expose that orangy pigment that lies beneath the surface of your hair. So, if you like your natural hair color and don’t mind the possibility of seeing a few grays shimmer through, this is the perfect solution to maintain healthy shiny hair that’s not brassy.
On the other hand, if you would like your color to be lighter than your natural, you can fight those warm tones at home by using a blue or violet shampoo and conditioner.
Q: Why do I need a haircut if I'm growing my hair out?
A: It may seem counterproductive, but trimming your hair while growing it out will actually encourage hair growth by getting rid of any damaged, broken, or split ends. While you don't need to get a trim every six to eight weeks, you should head to the salon about once every three months.
